A Mid-Century Modern Wedding
If you watch HGTV, you hear the term mid-century modern to describe a decorating style. Mid-century modern is furniture or architectural design from 1933-1965.
Mid-century modern is all about clean styling. If you are on a budget for your wedding, a mid-century modern wedding may be the answer.
- Most wedding ceremonies during that time were very simple. The venue set the style and was decorated with few flowers.
- The food for the receptions were very light: cake, punch, nuts and mints. If you have your ceremony at 2:00 p.m., most people will have eaten lunch so all you would need to serve is dessert. You could even have pies, candy or cupcakes. What if you had your ceremony at 8:00 p.m. and served everyone dessert? This is a perfect time for a party!
- Thrift stores, your grandparents or your parents attics or basements can be ideal places to look for decorations.
Never hesitate to "think outside the box" for an unique wedding.
