When to Get Engaged

If you ask a woman when is the best time to get engaged, she will most likely say "Now".
The majority of engagements occur between November and February. Just check out Facebook and you will see what I am talking about. It is  a good time because there is usually a lot of family around to share in the event. Holidays are so popular for engagements that most women anticipate it, "Will he propose on Valentine's Day?" or "I'll bet I'll get a ring for Christmas". If it doesn't happen, then there is disappointment or sometimes anger.
Give your man a break. Finding the time to ask the woman of his dreams to marry him is a big deal. You may not think so but men put a lot of thought in how to propose. They plan the place, the time, who will be there, etc. But, sometimes men don't remember dates very well so it is best if they pick the time.
My husband proposed to me the week before Valentine's Day on February 7. He had two reasons: (1) He wanted the day we became engaged to be a special day on it's own, and (2) since it was the week before Valentine's Day he would always remember. We actually celebrate this day more than we do Valentine's Day because the restaurants are not as crowded.
When it came time to set the date for our wedding, my husband chose the date for these reasons: (1) It was between our birthdays, and (2) It was in a even year. If it works for him, what more can you ask.
