Over the Christmas holidays, we celebrated my parents' 58th wedding anniversary. Amid all the congratulations, my husband said it best, "Thank you for showing us how wonderful marriage can be and being a good example for not just me and Gaye but for our children."
Some of us have parents who have had wonderful marriages, some have parents who divorced, and some have parents who may have never married. When we choose marriage we are making a commitment for the remainder of our lives. Marriage is work, but it can also be fun!
My mother loves to read and my daddy loves to work on cars. After dinner, my dad would go to his shop and work on a car. My mother would get a chair and read while he worked. It didn't matter if there were dirty dishes or other things to do. They have always been there for each other.
When you decide to get married, plan to make it work. Enjoy each other's company. Make your marriage something that will make your children and grandchildren proud.
