A Man's View on the Wedding Day

A Wedding from the other side (A Man’s View):  Wedding Day

It has been said that men are like waffles and women are like spaghetti and it’s no truer than the day of a wedding. This, of course, differs based on the time of the wedding. If you are getting married anytime after two or three o’clock in the afternoon, there is time to burn as opposed to time to get ready.

The men are looking for something to take up all that time.  The women are up early getting ready, meeting with the Wedding Planner to make sure that last detail is taken care of and the guys, well they are just waiting.  In fact, if you give us too much idle time that is not good. So help the men out.

If the guys like to play golf, that one is easy.  Just ensure you arrange the tee time well in advance of the ceremony.  One of the men has to ensure everyone will be able to participate in the wedding after the golf round.  Purchase some kind of gifts for best score, worst score, best score on a certain hole. Keep time in mind you may have to play only 9 holes or find a par three course.

If the guys like to hunt or fish this one’s pretty simple.  Just make sure that all the equipment is working before you get on the water or in the woods. Have a check-in time and if they miss it give enough cushion for recovering the wedding party.

If you don’t have an outdoor kind of guy, there are other options.  There is nothing more fun than a day at a place like Dave and Busters or other fun game/arcade event.  If your wedding is in the fall, have a football watching event. It is a good idea to check with the wedding venue to see if TV’s are available.

Guys just want something to occupy their time.  So with a little creative thinking his wedding day becomes more than just getting dressed up and showing up when told.  A morning with his buddies can help relieve the stress and fill in the gap. But remember, BE SPECIFIC on the time table and have a great wedding day.  And men, don’t be so manly that you let alcohol consumption ruin the day. Remember your bride has dreamed of this day all her life, so don’t turn into a nightmare!!
